Croquis Nights
Finnish Art Society organizes croquis drawing sessions with a live model in Kunsthalle Helsinki (Nervanderinkatu 3, 00100 Helsinki) on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. No booking in advance. The ticket sales begin at the Kunsthalle before every session, at 5:45 p.m. The drawing begins at 6:15 and ends at 8:00.

Tickets: €10 / €5 for the members of Finnish Art Society
Multi-tickets: €40 for 5 visits / €70 for 10 visits
Please note that in addition to card and cash payments, we accept the following payment methods: Smartum, Edenred, Tyky, Eazybreak and ePassi. The Museum Card is not valid for the drawing nights.
Please bring your own drawing equipment. Welcome!
INFORMATION ABOUT THE CROQUIS NIGHTS:
The drawing evenings have been immensely popular, which is wonderful!
To ensure enjoyable gatherings for everyone, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Ticket sales start at the earliest at 5:45 pm. Recently, there has been a tendency for early queuing. We kindly ask exhibition visitors and queuers to be considerate of each other to ensure a pleasant experience. Please note that seats cannot be reserved until a ticket is purchased at the lobby.
We kindly request that everyone store additional belongings in the coat racks and lockable lockers downstairs to respect the limited space in the drawing area.
Please refrain from moving the chairs around as they have been positioned to provide equal visibility to the stage. Drawing always takes place in the exhibition space, so please ensure safety around the artworks.
During the spring season’s Lars-Gunnar Nordström’s exhibition, no food or drinks are permitted in the exhibition halls. You may enjoy your snacks in the downstairs lobby during the break.
Please respect other participants by keeping your phone on silent during the drawing session. Dispose of pencil shavings in the bin provided and leave your drawing area tidy at the end of the event.

Acrobatics
FALL 2019
This autumn’s movement croquis brings new challenges to drawing when circus artist Petri Ekqvist performs acrobatic moves in Kunsthalle Helsinki’s exhibition space. Acrobatics is the performance of extraordinary human feats of balance, motor coordination and agility. The focus of the Acrobatics Croquis lies in observing the connection between acrobatics and movement: acrobatic moves and handstand poses challenge the drawer to percept the human body in a new way.
Petri Ekqvist is an art and well-being professional with 20 years of experience as a dancer and circus artist. He has performed widely in Finland and abroad in various productions on land, at sea and in the air. Petri works currently as a dancer, dance teacher and personal trainer as well as realizing well-being services for companies and their personnel.

Moving Croquis at the Kunsthalle Helsinki with the butoh artist Ken Mai. The model will take static poses first and then start moving slowly.
Ken Mai is a Japanese butoh artist, choreographer, teacher and also yoga teacher based in Helsinki, Finland since 2006, but he has been doing Butoh more than 25 years and performing and teaching all over the world now.

How to catch the lyrical movements of ballet on paper? How is the body aligned when the ballet dancer rises up to relevé en pointe?
The focus in this croquis evening lies in observing ballet movements and the ballerina’s anatomical structure. Professional ballet dancer Jessi Räty acts as a model. She's graduated from the Finnish National Opera’s Ballet School in 2017. Räty has performed in the Finnish National Opera’s stage productions of Swan Lake and the Nutcracker as an apprentice, and as a child starring as the child principal in the Nutcracker.
